This volume draws together 15 chapters of higher education research in areas like the changing pattern of decision making, labor market issues, knowledge acquisition and creation, lifelong learning, globalization and internationalization issues, challenging university teachers' competency levels, modernizing the university, university program reviews, access by underrepresented groups, and multidisciplinary research. Education and other researchers from Europe, Chile, Australia, and Mongolia (many of whom are early career researchers) address trends in European higher education policy in terms of the debate about university-industry relations and research excellence.
