In this work, international contributors in nursing and medical education, educational leadership, art education, art therapy, and organizational leadership seek to connect the fields of education and medicine to demonstrate collaborations among patients, practitioners, and researchers. The goal is to encourage a collaborative approach for preventing and managing chronic disease and promoting health communities. Cases show how programs and services help people develop life skills in health management, with special emphasis on helping minorities and poor people. Some subjects covered include therapeutic visual arts, writing healing narratives, the neuroscience of grief and grieving, promoting humanism through curricular design, and stress and its relationship to leadership in a healthy workplace culture. B&w illustrations, charts, and diagrams are included.
