Editor/Author Biographies
Brad Bizzell, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor and Program Area Leader for the Educational Leadership Program at Radford University. His work in the field of educational leadership focuses on the development of school leaders and comprehensive approaches to school improvement. He teaches courses in supervision and evaluation of instruction, models of teaching, organization and management of schools, and educational research. Dr. Bizzell’s areas of research interest include leadership development, including the leveraging of technology for leadership development, and place-based education.
Rebecca Kahila is an educator with 36 years of experience as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, literacy coach, student services supervisor, and principal mentor. Rebecca retired from Virginia Public schools in 2011. She traveled to the United Arab Emirates to teach English and became an Academic Vice Principal there. Currently, she serves Virginia schools in the Department of Education as a specialist in school safety and discipline. She has designed, implemented, and supervised programs to meet the needs of diverse student populations throughout her career. Rebecca also enjoys writing and has published a children’s book, When Ducks Won’t Quack, that reflects her positive approach to working with students.
Patricia A. Talbot, Ed. D. is an Associate Professor of Educational Leadership in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership (STEL). Prior to joining the faculty at Radford University, she worked in Virginia’s Montgomery County Public School system as a classroom teacher, an elementary guidance counselor, a school principal and a central office administrator for more than 25 years. After seven years working in the Elementary Education Program at RU, she transitioned into working full time in the Educational Leadership program to prepare practicing teachers to become school principals and central office administrators. She co-leads the Malawi Study Abroad Program and works with a team of colleagues in an effort to embed global competency education into the preparation of teachers and leaders.
