Editor/Author Biographies
Valerie A. Storey is an Associate Professor in the School of Teaching, Learning and Leadership at the University of Central Florida. She is the author of more that 40 publications in the areas of organizational leadership, professional doctoral program design, Dissertation in Practice design, and community-based learning. Recent works include the edited book International Perspectives on Designing Professional Practice Doctorates, in which scholars from Australia, Canada, Ireland, Israel, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom develop collective knowledge of professional practice doctoral programs through ongoing critical friends' discourse, offering insights on current important global issues in professional practice doctoral programs. Current leadership roles in professional organizations include serving as President of Florida Association of Professors of Educational Leadership (FAPEL), Chair of the American Educational Research Association, Division A, Educational Leadership Dissertation Award Committee, and Chair of the Faculty Council in the College of Education and Human Performance, UCF. Dr. Storey received her undergraduate degree from Leeds University (UK), her master's from Manchester University (UK) and her PhD. in Educational Leadership, Policy and Organizations from Peabody College, Vanderbilt University.

Thomas E. Beeman has been a healthcare executive for over 44 years both in the civilian and military sector. Beeman most recently was the COO of Regional Operations at Penn Medicine and prior to that had 27 years of experience as a CEO of several large Health Systems. He served 33 years in the US Navy attaining the rank of Rear Admiral (U). His last duty station was the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery as the Assistant Deputy Surgeon General of the Navy. Beeman was the CEO at Lancaster General Health a large complex healthcare system in Pennsylvania and also the CEO of Saint Thomas Health a multi-hospital system in Nashville, Tennessee. He was appointed by the President to sit on the COVER Commission, which is looking at ways to enhance mental healthcare for veterans. Beeman holds numerous military awards including the Legion of Merit (3 awards). He serves on various University Boards and in his new role of Executive in Residence for Penn Medicine enjoys teaching, mentoring and writing. He is the co-author of two books and a myriad of academic articles. Beeman holds a PhD. from Vanderbilt University, an MBA from Widener University, and MA and BS from Saint Joseph University.
