Description & Coverage
Description:

Metals are used at an extremely high rate in the industrial and manufacturing fields. Exemplary properties including strength and ductility have made this material highly dynamic; however, the risk of corrosion remains a vital issue. The study of corrosion prevention has attracted interest from researchers and professionals as new technologies are emerging that can assist in the prevention of material destruction. However, research is lacking on the application of these protective technologies within specific fields.

New Challenges and Industrial Applications for Corrosion Prevention and Control provides emerging research exploring the theoretical and practical aspects of protective methods against corrosion and the implementation of these techniques within a wide span of professional disciplines. Featuring coverage on a broad range of topics such as molecular modeling, surface treatments, and biomaterials, this book is ideally designed for engineers, industrial chemists, material scientists, researchers, engineers, academicians, practitioners, and students seeking current research on the technological advancements in corrosion protection in various professional scopes.

Coverage:

The many academic areas covered in this publication include, but are not limited to:

  • Biomaterials
  • Coating Inhibitors
  • Corroding Interfaces
  • Corrosion Mechanisms
  • Electrochemistry
  • Medical Devices
  • Molecular Modeling
  • Monitoring Techniques
  • Surface Treatments
  • Tribocorrosion

Younes El Kacimi was born in Azrou City, Morocco. He received his B.Sc. in Polymer Sciences (2006) & (D.E.S.A) M.Sc. degree in Biomaterials Sciences (2008), from Ibn Tofail University. He was awarded his M.Sc. degree in Quality & Project Management (2009) from François Rabelais University. Then he started to PhD education. His research activities are focused on the analytical chamistry, electrochemical behavior of metals and alloys, corrosion and inhibition, nanomaterials and development of new surface modification processes. Younes has authored 1 Patent, 8 Books and Books chapters and many others publications in corrosion sciences, nanomaterials and analytical chemistry. He is also an editorial board member and reviewer in several international journals.
Savas Kaya is Associate Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at Sivas Cumhuriyet University, Health Services Vocational School, Department of Pharmacy, Sivas, Turkey. He earned a doctorate degree in 2017 in the field of theoretical inorganic chemistry. His research is concerned with theoretical chemistry, computational chemistry, materials science, corrosion science, physical inorganic chemistry, and coordination chemistry. Savas Kaya has published more than 140 papers in international journals indexed SCI and SCI; his h-index is 26. He is the editor of the books Conceptual Density Functional Theory and Its Applications in the Chemical Domain and Corrosion Science: Theoretical and Practical Applications. He is the author of 10 book chapters. Recently, he introduced the Kaya chemical reactivity approach and the Kaya combined reactivity descriptor and proposed many electronic structure principles.

Rachid Touir was born in 1977 in Kenitra City, Morocco. He received his Ph.D. in Physics Chemistry, from Ibn Tofail University, Morocco, 2009. He had published more than 100 papers in international journals. His work has been cited 1726 total citations by 976 documents with h-index = 23 (since 2006 in SCOPUS) and presented several communications in symposia and national/international meetings. He was honored with the award for the best thesis researcher in Ibn Tofail University since the year 2009. He has developed 3 patents and he has participated in 6 national research projects. He has supervised 35 Doctoral Theses and 60 Master theses in science and didactics. He is a reviewer at several national and international journals. He is the author of a 3 books. His main research interests are in the field of Physical Chemistry, Especially electrochemistry (Corrosion and its inhibition in several media for metals and alloys using various techniques). He is also interested for electroless plating of Ni-P, Ni-Cu-P, Cu-P, Ni-Pd-Cu… and their components in several corrosive medium. He is currently interested in using some quantum chemical methods like density functional theory (DFT) and other semi-empirical methods to study corrosion inhibition efficiencies of organic compounds. He is also interested in the Didactics of physics and chemistry.
