Editor/Author Biographies
Phylis Johnson, PhD, is Director & Professor of Journalism & Mass Communications at San Jose State University, San Jose, CA. She is Emeritus Professor of Sound and New media at the Department of Radio, Television & Digital Media at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL, USA. She is author/co-author of five books, the former editor of two international journals, and has extensively presented and published internationally. She isthe co-founding editor of Sound & Culture (University of California Press) which will debut Fall 2019.
Ian Punnett was a multiple award-winning Ph.D. student at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State. Since then, Punnett has published several trade and academic books on various media-related subjects. As a professor of practice at the A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Kansas State University, Punnett serves as the faculty advisor/chief operator for Wildcat 91.9 (the longest continuously broadcasting FM college radio station in the United States) and teaches media writing, media history, podcasting, and media business.
