Description & Coverage
Description:

Demand for energy and water is increasing as a result of rapid economic, population, and industrial growth. By 2050, it is expected that global energy consumption will nearly double in tandem with world water demand. Because of competing demands for finite resources, existing water and energy systems are limited in their ability to satisfy these expanding needs. Furthermore, rapid population and industrial development inevitably result in the generation of a significant amount of wastewater laden with toxins, persistent inorganic and organic pollutants, and other toxic emissions emitted from different sources.

Opportunities and Challenges in Climate-Friendly Clean Water and Energy Technologies presents the most recent technological advancements that are relevant to environmentally friendly methods of producing clean water and a sustainable supply of energy. In order to protect against climate change, it also highlights the most recent empirical research findings in the field of cutting-edge industrial and transportation emission reduction measures. Covering key topics such as renewable energy, wastewater treatment, and biomaterials, this reference work is ideal for environmental scientists, industry professionals, researchers, practitioners, academicians, instructors, and students.

Coverage:

The many academic areas covered in this publication include, but are not limited to:

  • Biomaterials
  • Carbon Capture
  • Desalination
  • Fuel Cells
  • Global Warming
  • Green Hydrogen Production
  • Innovation
  • Microbial Fuel Cell
  • Renewable Energy
  • Wastewater Treatment

J. Sadhik Basha (Dr.) obtained his Doctorate Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology, Trichy, India in the year 2011. He is currently working as a Professor in the Process Engineering Department, National University of Science & Technology, Sohar, Oman. Dr. Basha is an experienced educator and researcher for more than two decades. His current research interests include water-diesel/biodiesel emulsions as alternative fuels, thermal desalination, combustion modeling, spray combustion, nano-additive emulsion fuels, thermal sciences, and renewable energy. He has received various research supported & consultancy projects totaling over 85,000 $ in the fields of thermal desalination, waste plastic oil synthesis, alternative fuels, nano-additive fuel catalysts, renewable energy, etc. He is an expert referee, editorial board member, and advisory board member for more than fifty reputed international journals in the fields of energy, combustion, and power engineering. He has more than five patents, and has published more than eighty research articles and participated in several national / international conferences. Further, the contents of his research work have been cited more than two thousand times in various technical articles, magazines, and international journals. He has more than fifty professional memberships (such as Combustion Institute, USA; IFPASA, etc.). He is a Recipient of “Best Supervisor Award” by MEDRC (Middle East Desalination Research Centre) and “Best Researcher Award” by IMCO in the year 2021. He has won “Best Teaching Cash Awards” several times. He is one of the top 2% of the academically cited researchers as per global Stanford University Ranking, 2022 in Oman. Dr. Sadhik is currently working in the area of zero emission techniques, and thermal desalination techniques to produce potable water from waste heat recovery systems.
Jimoh Adewole (Dr.) is presently an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering and Head of Process Engineering Department, National University of Science & Technology, Sohar, Sultanate of Oman. He is also the Leader of the Process Design & Computational Engineering Research Group. He was previously a senior researcher in the Center for Integrative Petroleum Research, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia. He received his PhD and MS in Chemical Engineering from Universiti Sains, Malaysia, and King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals in Saudi Arabia, respectively. He also holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria. Dr. Adewole’s research focuses on membrane technology for varieties of applications (gas separation, water and wastewater treatment, biomedical, energy generation and controlled release of oilfield chemicals); process intensification, modeling and simulation. Over the years, he has been working on cutting-edge research that involved experimental, modelling and simulation studies. Some of his projects were funded by Saudi Aramco, King AbdulAziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), College of Petroleum and Geosciences (CPG), National Science, Technology and Innovation Plan (NSTIP), and The Research Council of Oman (TRC). He has published more than 75 articles in about 25 prestigious international journals including the Journal of Membrane Science, the International Journal of Greenhouse Gas Control, Waste and Biomass Valorization, the Journal of Polymer Research, book chapters, patents, and in many conference proceedings including the conferences of American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Society of Petroleum Engineers, Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers, etc. Dr Adewole is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers, Society of Petroleum Engineers, Nigerian Society of Engineers, and American Society of Engineering Education.
