Foong Peng Ng is currently the Head of School of Architecture, Building & Design, Taylor’s University (Malaysia). Anchored by her PhD thesis titled “Re-thinking Place”, her research focusses on the notion of place and place-making, and contemporary Malaysian architecture. She is currently engaged in the institutional initiative on purpose learning, while leading a research project on socio-spatial framework for temporary migrant worker housing in Malaysia and developing a design pedagogy framework for post-covid architecture education. She authors books and contributes to architecture magazines such as World Architecture, Architecture Asia, Architecture Malaysia, Architecture Australia, and d+a. Her active role in the Malaysian Institute of Architects through the Education, Media and Publication committees has landed her numerous appointments as convenor and moderator of international and national events.
Ungku Norani Sonet is an architecture and urbanism senior lecturer at Taylor's University. After several years of architectural practice, she opted to pursue postgraduate studies and finished her PhD research. Her primary area of interest in architecture education is the responsive architectural design approach to local context and identity. In addition to the responsive design approach, she is particularly interested in doing research on public participation exercises in development frameworks. Her current research delves deeper to increase public involvement toward a holistic approach of sustainable built environment.
