Editor/Author Biographies
Janelle Christine Simmons, Ed.D., is a published author across a myriad of genres and subjects. Since the age of 6th grade (1989), she was a published poet. By her thirties, she was a published academician. She has self-published titles such as: “A Legion of Lies” (2009), and “Kept by Jesus” (2011), which can be purchased by contacting her at drjanellechristinesimmons@gmail.com. Her first academic book publication was her dissertation titled “Multicultural Leadership Characteristics of a School Director in an Educational Setting in South Korea: A Case Study” (2016) (https://digitalcommons.liberty.edu/ doctoral/1292/). She also has other book chapter and journal article publications with IGI Publications such as; “The Role of Social Media in the Globalized World of Education” (2017), “Overcoming the Onslaught: A Tale of Woe from One Adjunct Professor” (2020), “Ubuntu through the Lens of Tikkun Olam” (2021); and “The Path of Human Trafficking in My Own Backyard” (2022). Dr. Janelle C. Simmons also published a book chapter in Murakami and Mackey’s (2019) edited book titled Beyond Marginality: Understanding the Intersection of Race, Ethnicity, Gender, and Difference in Educational Leadership Research via Information Age Publishing. The chapter was titled: “The role of gender and transformational leadership: A synopsis.” Her latest published books in 2023 via IGI Publications are a two-part work and are as follows; 1) Analyzing Black History from Slavery through Racial Profiling by Police, and 2) Comparing Black Deaths in Custody, Police Brutality, and Social Justice Solutions. The impetuousness of her writing these two books, was the constant barrage of media informing her that another “Black brother/sister” had been shot and sometimes killed by the police; and usually for no real reason. She decided to delve into the history that precipitated these modern eventualities to prevent future actualities. She created three case studies to further explore the issues, legalities and history of police brutality, which were America, Australia and South Africa. Her latest book chapter publication edited by Maheshkar and Sonwalker was published in their compiled book titled: Handbook of Research on Cultural and Cross-Cultural Psychology (2023). Her work, which is in chapter 10 is titled “The Psychology of Acculturation: Losing My Religion” via Vernon Press. Her newest work in the making is titled The History of the Sudan from its Earliest Civilizations to Now. This work is expected to be published by IGI Publications during this current year of 2024. Outside of this work, Janelle Christine Simmons, Ed.D. is also working on a self-published book focusing on hip- hop and rap as a tool for social justice. (Stay tuned!) Dr. Simmons is also a featured author at other sites such as: Medium.com (Various Publications) or Israel Konnect (https://www.israelkonnect.com/israel-post/back-to-jerusalem-and-beyond/). She lives in Flushing, Queens, NY with family and surrounded by a multicultural cast of friends and neighbors, and of course her loving cat Moshe Alexander Simmons.
