Editor/Author Biographies
Tashieka Burris-Melville is a lecturer in the Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies at the University of Technology, Jamaica. She currently serves as programme leader for the M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Management in the faculty. She holds a Doctor of Education specializing in Leadership and Professional Practice from Trevecca Nazarene University and a Master of Arts in Linguistics from the University of the West Indies, Mona. Dr. Burris-Melville has taught courses in academic writing, linguistics, and leadership at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her research interests include sociolinguistics, emotional intelligence, writing in higher education, teamwork development, collaborative and inclusive leadership, transformational leadership, and online teaching and learning. Dr. Burris-Melville is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Psychological Association (APA), the Institute for Educational Administration and Leadership-Jamaica (IEAL-J), the Association of Leadership Educators (ALE), the International Leadership Association (ILA), and the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE).
Shalieka T. Burris is an academic writing lecturer in the College of General Studies and Behavioural Sciences at the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC). She has been facilitating academic writing courses in higher education institutions for almost a decade. She has taught courses in academic writing and linguistics and has served as course leader for the academic writing courses at the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean. Shalieka has earned her teaching diploma from the Shortwood Teachers’ College in Kingston, Jamaica. She has also earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in linguistics at the University of the West Indies, Mona, in Jamaica. Shalieka currently reads for her doctoral degree in Leadership and Organizational Intelligence at the Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee. Her research interests include adult teaching and learning, emotional intelligence, team effectiveness, followership, leadership, academic literacy, online teaching and learning, and applied linguistics.
Kristin is a hardworking, passionate and dedicated associate director in the online Ed.D. program at TNU. She is also an assistant professor, teaching in multiple programs, with a strong understanding of online learning, teaching and engagement. She is committed to enhancing overall student success and student experiences. Kristin is detailed and goal-oriented with training in leadership and teamwork and is strong in her graphic and visual sense, which is displayed in her course designs. Kristin holds a Bachelor of Science in elementary education, a master's degree in education administration and a Doctor of Education from Trevecca Nazarene University. Kristin finds her happy place with her husband and her two children. Being a former college basketball player, she still loves competition and working out. Kristin loves to continue her education and was recently certified as an Emotional Intelligence Practitioner. Lastly, she was selected to receive Trevecca's First Chapter Alumni Award in 2021.
