Article Processing Charges
Article Processing Charge (APC):

Payment of the APC fee (directly to the publisher) by the author or a funding body is not required until AFTER the manuscript has gone through the full double-blind peer review process and the Editor(s)-in-Chief at his/her/their full discretion has/have decided to accept the manuscript based on the results of the double-blind peer review process.

What Does IGI Global's Open Access APC Cover?

In the traditional subscription-based model, the cost to the publisher to produce each article is covered by the revenue generated by journal subscriptions. Under OA, all the articles are published under a Creative Commons (CC BY) license; therefore, the authors or funding body will pay a one-time article processing charge (APC) to offset the costs of all of the activities associated with the publication of the article manuscript, including:

  • Digital tools used to support the manuscript management and review process
  • Typesetting, formatting and layout
  • Online hosting
  • Submission of the journal's content to numerous abstracts, directories, and indexes
  • Third-party software (e.g. plagiarism checks)
  • Editorial support which includes manuscript tracking, communications, submission guideline checks, and communications with authors and reviewers
  • All promotional support and activities which include metadata distribution, press releases, promotional communications, web content, ads, fliers, brochures, postcards, etc. for the journal and its published contents
  • The fact that all published articles will be freely accessible and able to be posted and disseminated widely by
    the authors
  • Professional line-by-line English language copy editing and proofreading*

*This service is only performed on article manuscripts with fully paid (not discounted or waived) APC fees.

Reviews & Statements

Although International Journal of Computer Assisted Language Learning and Teaching is a new journal, it has made an increasing impact on many aspects of Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL). It publishes original and high quality articles that investigate real and emerging problems in language teaching and learning supported by cutting-edge educational technologies. It provides a lively forum for language professionals and ICT developers to share innovative teaching and learning approaches and strategies, to promote new understanding of language learning and learners in the 21st century, and to explore the future of CALL.

– Yuping Wang, Griffith University, Australia

In an era of extensive application of the internet and computers, target language use situations have changed in fundamental ways. Computer-mediated communication has become a major characteristic of language activities. International Journal of Computer-Assisted Language Learning and Teaching (IJCALLT) has therefore provided a most necessary and timely opportunity for applied linguistic researchers around the world to publish their findings on how technology has affected the way language is learned and taught, and for practitioners in applied linguistics to gain information on the latest developments in computer-assisted language learning and teaching.

– Yan Jin, Shanghai Jiaotong University, China

International Journal of Computer-Assisted Language Learning and Teaching (IJCALLT) is a fully referred international journal which is devoted to dissemination of information associated with the applications of computers and technology in language learning and teaching. Its editorial board consists of international scholars in the field of second language acquisition and computer-assisted language learning and teaching. The scope of the journal is wide-ranging and embraces a multitude of disciplines. It provides an interdisciplinary forum to discuss the theoretical debate, innovation and applications of integrating technology to support language learning and teaching.

– Professor Yu-Chih Sun and Professor Hsien-Chin Liu

International Journal of Computer-Assisted Language Learning and Teaching provides a well-balanced "mix" of empirical studies and reviews of new technologies currently being field-tested in language classrooms in many different countries. This emphasis on both theory and practice can help pre-service as well as in-service teachers gain a deeper understanding of which CALL solutions work and why. IJCALLT also gives CALL developers and researchers access to international "voices from the field" and enables them to focus on common issues that continue to challenge language learners and teachers throughout the world.
