Description:

Business processes are becoming increasingly complex and dynamic as they seek to cope with a wide range of internal and external interactions and changes.

The Handbook of Research on Complex Dynamic Process Management: Techniques for Adaptability in Turbulent Environments investigates the nature and history of dynamic processes essential to understanding the need for flexibility and adaptability as well as the requirements to improve solutions. This innovative collection covers the development of various strategies, architectures, and techniques for achieving adaptive processes in environments.

Coverage:

The many academic areas covered in this publication include, but are not limited to:

  • Adaptive exception management
  • Bayesian agent adaptation
  • Business process modeling approaches
  • Business process redesign
  • Complex business process management
  • Complex dynamic systems
  • Dynamic and context-aware adaptation
  • Flexibility for distributed workflows
  • Flow-based adaptive information integration
  • Management of business collaborations
Reviews & Statements

The edited collection herein constitutes a timely and welcome edition to the literature on business processes. The volume offers a comprehensive, interdisciplinary state-of-the-art overview of research on the topic, covering the research of leading groups around the world.

– John Mylopoulos, University of Trento, Italy

This book provides an in-depth understanding of business processes and investigating advanced solutions to complex process management. It combines both a managerial and a technical view of business process management, providing advanced analysis and concrete approaches for relevant problems, as well as implications for further studies and practices. Handbook of Research on Complex Dynamic Process Management: Techniques for Adaptability in Turbulent Environments promises to introduce the reader to various issues, trends, and problems faced by researchers and practitioners in business process management, together with principles, approaches, and tools for solving the problems.

– Minhong Wang, University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong

"[The] editors have enlisted dozens of expert contributors for this handbook on creating dynamic processes that can be continually adapted in turbulent business environments. Written for IT professionals and information systems managers, this volume discusses such topics as Bayesian agent adaptation, flexibility for distributed workflows and flow-based adaptive information integration. Practical issues of business process mining are also discussed, such as semantic mining of SAP transactions and the identification of batch processing features in workflows."
