The Greater Western Library Alliance (GWLA) and Orbis Cascade Alliance are currently collaborating with IGI Global on an e-Book Title Sharing Agreement that is being offered to over 130+ institutions that are eligible to participate. Participating institutions may purchase e-books (a minimum of one title) at a small multiplier, dependent upon the number of participants that choose to opt-in. They gain shared perpetual ownership of all titles purchased on behalf of the group. Individual invoicing with shared ownership are key to the equitable nature of this agreement.
All eligible institutions are able to receive free trial access to IGI Global’s full portfolio of 6,600+ e-Books until June 3rd, 2022. Interested institutions are also provided customized title lists and one-on-one support and analysis of their IGI Global holdings and faculty titles to assist in their acquisitions decisions when selecting from the full IGI Global e-Book portfolio.
This e-Book Title Sharing Agreement enables libraries to provide their students and faculty with some of the most innovative research from all over the world on a variety of major subjects, including Business, Computer Science, Education, Social Sciences, with highly focused topics such as Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA).
Three Easy Steps for Institutions:
- Participating institutions can be set-up with trial access to the IGI Global e-Book Collection (optional) that ends June 3rd, 2022.
- Once the trial period is complete, each institution will be provided with COUNTER 5 usage reports as well as lists of titles based on faculty-leadership, or specific program needs to select the titles of interest for acquisition, and the applicable multiplier will be calculated based on number of participating institutions.
- Title selections will be finalized and deduplicated, institutions will be invoiced based on their individual selections, and all of the selected titles are made available to all institutions as shared acquisitions with individual, perpetual institution ownership.
Additionally, participating institutions who invest US$ 5,000 or more in the agreement can consider converting some of their faculty’s published work through IGI Global to Open Access (CC BY 4.0 license). Eligible institutions with an interest in Open Access publishing can collaborate with IGI Global on this process, which enables the opened research to be accessed by all and freely built upon. Through this agreement, GWLA, Orbis Cascade Alliance and IGI Global have come together to provide shared electronic resources, cooperative collection development, aid in furthering OA efforts, as well as provide the libraries within these groups access to e-resources at a better overall value.
