Covid-19 took a major toll on the tourism, travel, and hospitality industry in 2020 and 2021. For more than a year, travel bans, capacity restrictions, and pandemic safety protocols all put tremendous pressure and strain on businesses and economies. Flights were nearly empty as many people left vacations and trips in the past for the comfort and safety of their own home. The future remains uncertain, as every country is currently handling restrictions and re-opening at their own pace, but one thing remains certain and that is that we are all hopeful to eat with loved ones at restaurants, tour new places, and immerse ourselves in other cultures once again.

IGI Global’s tourism and hospitality journal, International Journal of Tourism and Hospitality Management in the Digital Age (IJTHMDA), provides an outlet for researchers to disperse their findings on an industry that for several months now has been impacted by the pandemic in so many different ways.

IJTHMDA was established in 2017 and as of 2021, is one of 31 Gold Open Access (OA) journals published with IGI Global. The journal’s editor-in-chief, Prof. Angelo Camillo teaches capstone courses in strategic management and business policy in the School of Business and Economics at Sonoma State University, California, USA. Prof. Camillo has over 35 years of international hospitality industry management experience while living in ten countries among four continents. He is also a hospitality business consultant to American and international clients.

IJTHMDA’s international advisory board members, associate editors, and editorial review board members bring editorial support, advisement, and expertise to the journal from many corners of the world, including China, Italy, Turkey, Jordan, Switzerland, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Spain, Australia, Portugal, Malaysia, Taiwan, United States, Germany, India, and Korea.

The journal aims to be a resource for emerging research within the hospitality and tourism industry and dives into the impact of technology on consumer behavior, service demand and delivery, and the overall customer experience. The research published in IJTHMDA meets the needs of professionals in the areas of travel, tourism, hotel and restaurant management, event planning, and luxury services.

IJTHMDA has a broad range of coverage. Below are just a few of many topics covered:

  • Cruise Lines
  • Media Influence on Tourism
  • Mobile Tourism Apps
  • Luxury Services
  • E-Travel
  • Airline Industry
  • Travel Planning
  • Destination Marketing
  • Bar/Night Club Operations and Management
  • And More!

If interested in submitting an article manuscript to IJTHMDA for consideration, you can begin the submission process through our eEditorial Discovery® system. As a gold open access journal, an Article Processing Charge (APC) is required, however, will not be requested until AFTER the article manuscript has undergone the full double-blind peer review process and is accepted into the journal (Note: If an article manuscript is rejected, there will be no APC fee requested). The APC fee, US $750, paid directly to IGI Global by either the author or a funding body, offsets the costs associated with publishing an article under OA. IGI Global does have various options available for those who may encounter difficulties securing OA funding. Learn more through our Open Access page.

IJTHMDA also welcomes new reviewers, if you are interested in becoming a reviewer for the journal you can submit a reviewer application at any time. For any further inquiries or questions, please contact the journal’s editor-in-chief, Prof. Angelo Camillo, at acamillo@igi-global.com.
