All IGI Global Journals are Converting to a Continuous Publishing Schedule for the 2022 Volume Year

By IGI Global on Sep 15, 2021
IGI Global has shifted all journals into a “digital preferred” format. Under this format, their full collection of 110+ hybrid OA and 60+ gold OA journals will be primary available in electronic format for the 2022 volume year. This shift comes in response to the overwhelming demand for electronic content coupled with the mission to decrease the overall environmental impacts of print production and distribution.

“We saw a need to shift into this format to ensure that our researchers work can be swiftly disseminated, and our library customers can easily review their journal holdings and metrics. This shift to digital preferred ensures that we can deliver the latest, peer-reviewed content immediately to all of our customers even in light of supply chain challenges.”

- Mr. Nick Newcomer, Senior Director of Marketing and Sales
Through this model, customers can benefit from immediate access of the journal’s contents, as articles will be published immediately after acceptance. Additionally, they benefit from the content being hosted on IGI Global’s InfoSci® platform, which provides wider accessibility and features, including:
  • Remote Access Options (IP Authentication with Proxy, Referral URLs, and More)
  • No DRM with the Ability to Copy, Paste, and Print
  • No Additional Charge for Multi-User Licensing
  • No Maintenance, Service, or Archiving Fees
  • Persistent URLs, Formatted Citations with the Ability to Export to RefWorks and EasyBib
  • Full-Text HTML and PDF Format
  • Archival Access Preservation through CLOCKSS and LOCKSS
  • Free MARC records and COUNTER Compliant Reports
  • And More.
For library customers, they are also able to harness COUNTER compliant usage and turn away reports enabling them to make metric-driven acquisitions decisions on single journals with evidence-based acquisitions becoming increasingly popular.
Understanding that customers may still want to acquire print editions of journals, print subscriptions, and print + electronic subscriptions will still be available, but for the print version, all articles that are published during the volume year will become available at the end of the year in a single (1) printed volume. Additionally, for customers that resubscribe or auto-renewal print-only subscriptions, IGI Global will provide complimentary electronic access to ensure that you receive streamlined and prompt access to journal content during this change. To set up this access contact IGI Global’s Customer Service Team at cust@igi-global.com or your preferred journal subscription agency (i.e. EBSCO Subscription Services, WT Cox Information, LM Information Delivery, Otto Harrassowitz, etc.).
As a reminder, all of IGI Global’s subscription-based journals are available on the individual-level directly through IGI Gobal’s Online Bookstore and all major journal subscription agencies (i.e. EBSCO Subscription Services, WT Cox Information, LM Information Delivery, Otto Harrassowitz, and more).
